THE RESEARCH FOUNDATION
Programme host and co-designer Dr Sebastian Fox recently published his doctoral thesis, "How Teams Find Their Coaching to Be Productive". This is the first rigorous academic evidence for what experienced coaches have long known intuitively: that emergent team coaching creates the greatest impact for teams. The content of this programme draws directly from the outcomes of the research.
Upon completion of the programme, you will have built real confidence in why an emergent approach to team coaching transforms teams.
You will understand the conditions necessary for emergence, recognise your own positionality, and have the language to speak with authority about how this approach benefits teams and organisations.

MEET YOUR PROGRAMME LEADERS
This programme is co-designed and delivered by two exceptional practitioners who bring both rigorous research and deep practical experience:
-
Dr Sebastian Fox is a practising team coach and researcher. His thesis, “How Teams Find Their Coaching to Be Productive,” demonstrates how emergent team coaching generates the greatest impact for teams. It provides the first rigorous academic evidence for what experienced coaches have long known intuitively but not always been able to clearly explain to clients.
As Head of Research at Team Coaching Studio, a TCS Diploma alumnus and Lead for the EMCC’s Team Coaching Special Interest Group, Seb bridges the gap between academic rigour and practical application. With 40 years of business experience across corporates and running his own business, he brings both credibility and real-world understanding to this programme.
-
Emily Jones is a member of the TCS Faculty and a practising team coach. She brings warmth and practical wisdom to the research foundations. Emily has worked with over 100 teams across a variety of sectors and loves the messiness and complexity of the work. She particularly enjoys the challenge of working with conflict in teams. As founder of Turnstone Coaching and an ICF PCC-credentialed coach, Emily excels at translating complex concepts into practical application.
This unique partnership combines cutting-edge research with proven practical expertise, ensuring participants leave the training with both the evidence and the skills to talk with confidence about emergence and the understanding of what they bring to their work with teams.
WHY EVIDENCE MATTERS NOW
The team coaching field is maturing rapidly. Procurement teams want proof. Sponsors demand measurable outcomes. Organisations are increasingly sophisticated about intervention choices.
Team transformation happens through emergence, not overreliance on predetermined frameworks. This programme gives you the research and understanding to know with confidence that emergent team coaching is the right path and the language to articulate exactly why to clients, sponsors and yourself
Surface-level diagnostic tools are often inadequate for complex team dynamics
Transformation happens through emergence, not predetermined frameworks
The most impactful team coaches are those who can bridge intuitive practice with meeting the team where they are at
This programme positions you at the forefront of that evolution.
